Little Free Library

Little Free Library!

On Monday, we placed our Little Free Library in front of the office. In case you aren’t familiar with Little Free Libraries, they are small containers (ours is an old newspaper box) with books inside, and a sign inviting people to take a book and give a book. That’s all there is to it. Our library features books for children and youth. Anyone can set one up, and register with Little Free Libraries. You can learn more here

We are excited to have our Little Free Library in place because it is another way for neighbors to interact with each other. In the springtime we hope to set a few chairs outside so folks can come, find a book and sit out front (maybe with a cup of coffee). For now, we are just glad to have the library in place.

The Little Free Library is the result of several people working together! It started this summer when our friend Nancy, who is connected with New Covenant UMC, told us they had an extra newspaper box and she thought it would make a great LFL at our office. The newspaper box was cleaned and primed by our neighbor Mark. And then our intern, Elisabeth, did the decorative painting. Friends of SoCe have donated books, and now Ashley PBT is the steward of the box. Yea community!

The instructions are simple: take a book, give a book.
