It has been fun to check in on SoCe front yard garden boxes this week. The Swiss chard in several boxes is looking radiant! Other boxes have the bedraggled remains of tomato plants or basil that got zapped by a light frost. One of my neighbors has beautiful brussel sprouts! We have enjoyed watching them slowly mature.
Another neighbor called out to me yesterday and said, "Have you noticed those herbs we planted in my box in the spring?" She has a box that is very shaded in the summer, so we have struggled with what to plant in it. However, it has an explosion of delicious arugula growing in it now!
Earlier this week, we decided it was time to check on the sweet potatoes in my box. I grew them from slips a neighbor gave me in the summer. Matt carefully dug down around the crumpled vine and voila!
