On Saturday, Feb. 25, the Discipleship group from Southwestern College came to learn more about the work of SoCe Life, and also to help out at Legacy Garden Works.

It was a beautiful afternoon for working in the garden, not too hot, not too cold, just sunny and mild. Our task was to prepare beds for planting by raking off the mulch covering, pulling the weeds, loosening the soil, and finally working in plenty of composted zoo poop!

After working at the garden we went to the SoCe Life office, enjoyed some homemade cookies given by a neighbor, and then talked about the Neighboring Movement and Asset-Based Community Development.

At the office we did a few activities to help illustrate just how gifted we are.

One highlight was having one of our Block Connectors, Susan, share about the importance of neighboring. She is a great story-teller, and her insights were wonderful. What she shared seemed to inspire all of us and got the students asking lots of great questions.
