On Tuesday evening, Matt represented Neighboring Movement by SoCe Life at KMUW's Engage ICT panel discussion on Crime & Safety. It was affirming to hear each of the panelists refer to knowing your neighbors as a key element of neighborhood safety and crime prevention. I enjoyed the insights of Darryl Carrington, the community liaison for the Fairmount Neighborhood. He talked about the value of things like block parties and picking up trash (sounds like some of our 52 Weeks of Neighboring tips!). The Fairmount Neighborhood also has a program called Eyes on the Block, which is very similar to our system of Block Connectors. We look forward to learning more about the initiatives in the Fairmount Neighborhood. How might we work together for the benefit of our city?
