Throughout 2016, our neighbor, Mark, reviewed restaurants in SoCe. As we got to know Mark we learned that he was very fond of good food. One time I asked him what his favorite restaurant was, and he said, "what category? Chinese, Mexican, Italian?" I learned that over the years, Mark has paid attention to good, local restaurants, and good service. He remembers places he ate at 15 years ago, AND what he ordered. We thought Mark's birthday would be a perfect occasion for him to write another food review.
It's been a little while since I've been able to do a food review. Today (November 4) me and my neighbor Gata (Spanish for "Cat" - my nickname for Catherine) and Kristopher celebrated my upcoming 61st birthday at Marchello's, a little Italian eatery near 31st and S. Seneca.
I started with the sampler platter that consisted of stuffed jalapeño peppers, mozzarella sticks, and Italian seasoned chicken wings. My main course was the Altima pasta: a "combination of chicken breast, baby shrimp, and link sausage covered with cream sauce on linguini pasta." The Altima was good - as always. For dessert, I had the Tiramisu which was also great (you can see Catherine taking a bite of it in the picture above). Kristopher had the Marchello's Calzone while Catherine had the Vegetarian Supreme Pizza. Unfortunately, Matt was out of town.
For an excellent dining experience of Italian food, I recommend Marchello's - in the Seneca Square area. They have great atmosphere. I enjoyed the background music: Frank Sinatra, and my favorite big band music - Glenn Miller Orchestra. I ate at Marchello's one time on Valentine's Day and every table was decorated with a rose. My wife, at the time, said I outdid myself. Marchello's is an excellent choice if you live or work in the area - they will even deliver to your home or business.
Till next time, enjoy your dining experience!
