I’ve quoted Seth Godin before. His thinking is vibrant and challenging. I strongly encourage you to read his daily blog, you can find it here. Today, I read his blog and I thought about our work at the Neighboring Movement:
Put a bag of cookies in the break room and it might sit for days.
Open the bag and leave it out, and within an hour, all the cookies will be gone.
We are happy to take a tiny slice off the thing that’s being shared, but we hesitate to open the bag.
The same is true with all of the initiatives in our culture. Design, movements and ideas are all trapped, waiting to be opened, and then the rest of us will happily pile on.
Open the bag
What is one small step you can take this week to connect with a neighbor?
Share baked goods (might as well be cookies!).
Work together on a project.
Go for a walk.
Pick up trash.
Whatever it is, let’s do it. You could be the one who opens the bag of cookies!
