SoCe is our founding neighborhood. Our offices are located in the heart of the neighborhood and we are actively discovering gifts, connecting neighbors, and mobilizing action within the SoCe Neighborhood.

Host a Neighbor Get-Together!
Hosting a neighbor get-together on your block is an excellent way to connect the families in your area! Don’t feel intimidated, it can be as simple as sitting together with 3-4 neighbors on the front lawn. Click HERE for a hosting guide!

Be a 'Welcomer' on Your Block!
Change is hard. As a welcomer you have the wonderful opportunity to make a family feel at home in their new house. Consider waving hello, knocking to introduce yourself, or even dropping off a plate of baked goods!

The challenge is simple. Just start getting to know your neighbors! Use our ‘8 Front Doors Challenge’ block map magnet to have a visual of who your closest neighbors are!

Garden Boxes
The front yard garden boxes were a wonderful “third thing.” They helped us get to know neighbors in a non-threatening way. They provided a conversation piece and a fun way for neighbors to share gardening tips, construction skills, and seed-saving strategies.

Community Listeners
Meet and talk with people in your neighborhood! In the summer of ‘21 we hired several local high school students to be community listeners! They learned people’s gifts, talents, skills and interests and then helped connect neighbors based on shared interests.

We strive to be involved with many aspects of the neighborhood! Small mixers like, ‘Hot Chocolate in the Hood’ or celebrating neighbor’s birthdays when they’ve kindly invited us.
