Meet our Spring 2024 Animators!

Learn a bit about this ELECTRIC group!

Last Thursday, our alumni joined us in welcoming the new spring 2024 cohort to the Community Animator Network! We had so much fun getting to learn about each other’s gifts as we facilitated Head, Hands, Heart with the entire group! I am thrilled to introduce y’all to the lovely people that make up our newest cohort!

Marixendra!
Marixendra embodies community involvement! A connector at heart, she serves as a promotora in her community and sits on multiple boards throughout the city. Marixendra started her own translating business over fourteen years ago and her company, CJS Translation Servies, translates over 17 different languages. Marixendra’s kindness is immediately apparent in her interactions with others and we are so lucky to include her in this newest cohort!

Jasper!
Jasper is incredibly passionate about advocacy for animals! Not only do they participate in volunteer work that centers around animal rescue, they are known for keeping a leash and dog treats in their car at all times just in case a lonely pup needs assistance finding their way back home! In their spare time, Jasper enjoys throwing pottery and creating unique pieces for their home!

Nalah!
Passionate, energetic, and witty, Nalah is an amazing conversationalist. A creative at heart, Nalah enjoys painting and aspires to be the ‘new Monet’ (of which I have no doubts they will be accomplishing in the future). Not only are they incredibly talented, they also have various art pieces displayed around town at the Mulberry Art Institute and at Sunflour Cafe. Nalah enjoys creating different loose leaf tea blends as a side hobby!

Felicita!
Not only does Felicita make killer homemade flour tortillas, but she also has a passion for family and self care! Felicita’s smile and warmth shine through during her conversations with others. After graduating at WSU, Felicita has worked at the same company for over five years now and is excited to delve into her community building skills! Her flare for style and Bruno Mars make her such an added Treasure to our group! (see what I did there, ha)

Emily!
Emily’s warmth makes her an instant connector, especially when it comes to kids! She is currently finishing up her masters degree in social work at WSU and will graduate in May! Emily has a passion for making sure all children have the resources they need to succeed, inside and outside of the classroom. When she’s not busy working, finishing up school, and parenting, Emily enjoys writing letters and is always looking for pen pals!

Karis!
Karis’ enthusiasm and energy make them such a natural connector! Their awareness around food insecurity and environmentalism resulted in their passion in creating fun vegan and vegetarian dishes. After a brief hiatus from Wichita, they recently returned to become the Youth Program Director at Woodlawn Methodist Church! In their free time, Karis enjoys exploring different artistic mediums!

We have 6 incredible people to welcome into our world, and we are so thankful for all that they bring to their communities. Stay tuned for updates as they complete Phase 1 of the Community Animator Network!

As always, if you want to continue to support our work here at The Neighboring Movement, you can make a one-time or recurring donation here.
