Congregations as Connectors

Equipping faith communities to build stronger neighborhoods, one relationship at a time.

What if the greatest gifts in our communities are already right outside our doors?

Congregations as Connectors is a growing initiative of The Neighboring Movement that helps faith communities discover the strengths of their neighborhoods, build authentic relationships, and work alongside their neighbors to nurture thriving communities.

Rooted in Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), our approach invites congregations to move beyond traditional outreach and embrace neighboring as a way of life—recognizing that God has already gifted every neighborhood with people, talents, passions, stories, and opportunities.

Through interactive workshops, practical tools, and shared learning experiences, we equip congregations to discover the gifts of their neighbors, strengthen relationships, and explore new ways to connect with their communities.

As this initiative continues to develop, we're excited to work alongside congregations interested in putting neighboring into practice.

Discover. Connect. Mobilize.

Congregations as Connectors helps faith communities:

  • Discover the gifts, talents, stories, and strengths already present in their neighborhoods.

  • Connect with neighbors through authentic relationships, meaningful conversations, and shared experiences.

  • Mobilize people and resources around opportunities that emerge from within the community.

  • Cultivate a culture of neighboring that extends beyond church walls and into everyday life.

  • Collaborate with neighbors, organizations, and other congregations to strengthen the communities they share.

Whether your congregation is just beginning to explore neighboring or looking to deepen existing relationships, we want to help you take the next step.

Common Questions

Ready to bring neighboring to your congregation?

Rooted in Neighboring. Growing Together.

Congregations as Connectors builds on The Neighboring Movement's history of faith-based community building through The Good Neighbor Experiment and the Faith-Based Animator Network (FAN).

These initiatives have helped individuals and congregations discover what it means to love their literal neighbors, recognize the gifts already present in their communities, and build meaningful relationships through Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD).

Today, we're building on that foundation to equip more congregations with the tools, relationships, and opportunities to put neighboring into practice.
