Neighborhood Connectors
Be a part of the movement.
Every neighborhood is filled with people, talents, stories, and strengths waiting to be discovered. Sometimes, all it takes is someone willing to make the connection.
Neighborhood Connectors is The Neighboring Movement's signature community-building program, bringing together our former Community Animator Network (CAN) and Faith-Based Animator Network (FAN) into one shared learning experience.
Rooted in Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), Neighborhood Connectors equips individuals with the tools, relationships, and confidence to create meaningful change right where they live.
Rather than focusing on what's missing in our communities, we start with what's already there: the gifts of our neighbors, the strength of local relationships, and the possibilities that emerge when people come together.
Through guided learning, meaningful conversations, and hands-on neighboring experiences, participants learn to:
Discover the skills, passions, stories, and strengths within their neighborhoods.
Connect with neighbors and build authentic relationships across differences.
Mobilize community assets to bring shared ideas and opportunities to life.
Neighborhood Connectors welcomes people from all backgrounds, whether you're already actively involved in your community or simply looking for a place to begin.
Participants become part of a supportive network of neighbors and community leaders who believe stronger communities begin with relationships.
We offer multiple Neighborhood Connectors cohorts throughout the year, creating opportunities for individuals to learn, connect, and put neighboring into practice.
You don't need to have all the answers or a big project in mind. You just need a willingness to get to know your neighbors.

Neighborhood Connectors is a 12-week paid learning experience where you and other participants explore the principles of Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) and learn how to build stronger, more connected neighborhoods.
Participants commit to approximately 3-5 hours per week over the 12 weeks, including 3 in-person workshops, online learning, reading, group discussions, and hands-on neighboring activities.
Throughout the program, you'll build meaningful relationships with fellow Neighborhood Connectors, share neighboring successes and discoveries, learn from one another, and encourage each other as you put what you've learned into practice.
By the end of the cohort, you'll have the tools, relationships, and confidence to discover, connect, and mobilize the strengths already present in your community.

In short, ABCD is all about focusing on what’s strong, not what’s wrong. The ABCD model shifts our mindset from one of scarcity to abundance.
Everything we need is right around us if we are open to learning and discovering. Dig deeper on the ABCD Institute website.
