Neighboring Tip of the Week - Bike somewhere you’d normally drive to.

Happy Sunday!

This week’s neighboring tip is a bit of a classic, and we think it’s for bikers and non-bikers alike. Really, the heart of the tip is to slow down. If you’d normally drive somewhere in your neighborhood, we would encourage you to bike there. If you’d normally bike somewhere in your neighborhood, we would encourage you to walk there!

We’ve noticed that slowing down is a key neighboring strategy because it makes space for more relationships to blossom, gives us the opportunity to notice new or previously unseen assets in the places where we live, and also helps us spend more time in our neighborhoods. When we slow down our transportation, we make more space for happenchance encounters, for bumping into neighbors and having a chance to chat. We also might notice beautiful flowers or charming homes that otherwise might look like blurs as we drive by in our cars. Finally, we also just prioritize hanging out more in the places where we live, and as a result, we think this helps us fall more deeply in love with these very places.

So, this week, we would encourage you to intentionally move more slowly between places, and just see what happens.

Happy Neighboring!
