Meet the Spring 2023 Animators!

I am thrilled for you to meet our 7th cohort of the Community Animator Network program! With these new members, our network has grown to 61 Animators across Kansas since 2020, including a few in Austin, Texas. The incoming cohort is composed of passionate and dedicated individuals eager to learn about asset-based community development, which is a crucial focus of our program. Our approach centers on leveraging each community's existing strengths and resources, enabling individuals to take action and drive positive change in their neighborhoods. I am sure this cohort will achieve great things with their fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and committed dedication to building a more just and equitable society! -Elizabeth Ramirez, Program Director for CAN.

“What I'm most excited of being part of the animators program is to learn how to lead projects that help the growth of our community.” -Maria Garduño

“As a newcomer to Wichita, I'm most excited to learn more about my community, meet new people, and make meaningful connections.  The Neighboring Movement is a great way to get involved and remain active, which is important to me as someone who works from home.  I also look forward to challenging myself and experiencing personal growth and development through the program.” -Latasha Eley Kelly

“I am excited to dive deep into ABCD and learn how it can be applied to all types of communities and neighborhoods. Being part of this learning cohort is very exciting because it allows like-minded folks to come together in support of creating a better quality of living for the people in our communities. Additionally, I am elated to get to connect with the Neighboring Movement and become part of a network of individuals that are motivated and committed to making the world a little better by bringing folks together!” -Ivan Castillo

“I am most excited about the ability to find ways to strengthen the community I live in. The ABCE method will allow me to look at how to crowd source solutions for things affecting people across our whole community and not just one problem area.  I can’t wait to explore all the hidden assets we have.” -Neves Benton

“I’m excited to become more connected with my community through the Community Animator Network program.” - Selena Favela
